Outside the gates of South Florida's premier golf and country club, a world of entertainment and culture awaits. The Palm Beach area is renowned for its endless outdoor recreation opportunities, fabulous shopping and rich cultural offerings. Everything we could want is within a half-hour's drive of our gate.
Whether we're looking for dinner and drinks or an evening filled with music and theater, we choose from a first class selection of offerings. Museums and art galleries fill our local community, as do family-friendly attractions and professional sporting events. From the world-famous boutiques of Worth Avenue to the brand new Downtown at the Gardens mall around the corner, we are surrounded by a wealth of shopping opportunities.
Outdoors enthusiasts not only enjoy golf and boating. Nearby parks and nature preserves afford scenic settings for hiking, biking, picnicing and kayaking. With our close proximity to the Palm Beach International Airport and a host of nearby medical facilities, we are never far from what we need, want or dream.
Airports
No matter our destination, it is easy to get there from the Palm Beach International Airport. Direct flights from New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago and all major American cities arrive regularly. International flights to the Caribbean, Europe, South America and Asia arrive and depart on a daily basis.
This modern airport is served by more than 15 airlines, including American, Continental, Delta, JetBlue, Southwest, US Airways and United. With convenient airport parking, a plethora of limousine services, a variety of shuttles and even a commuter rail system, it is easy to get around once you're on the ground. Best of all, it's an easy 20 minute highway drive from the airport to our club.
Shopping
Whether we need to run out and pick up a hostess gift or we want to spend an afternoon shopping, our options are endless here in the chic and stylish Palm Beaches area.
The world famous Worth Avenue in Palm Beach attracts celebrities and tourists alike, with its historical architecture housing an elegant array of designer boutiques, including Jimmy Choo, Salvatore Ferragamo, Chanel and Valentino. Just around the corner from our club, we enjoy two premier shopping malls: the brand new Downtown at the Gardens mall, featuring Whole Foods and Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa, and The Gardens at the Palm Beaches mall, featuring Saks Fifth Avenue, Tiffany & Co., Louis Vuitton and Ann Taylor.
Those of us who love antiques appreciate Antique Row on Dixie Highway. When we want a more eclectic, artsy shopping experience we head to Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach, where we find restaurants, galleries and one-of-a-kind shops. Unique offerings can also be found in the shopping districts of Clemantis Street and Cityplace in West Palm Beach and Mizner Park in Boca Raton. For the freshest local produce, meats, cheeses and baked goods, we head to the farmers' markets in Delray Beach and West Palm Beach.
Arts & Culture
Here in the heart of Florida's "Culture Capital", we are surrounded by the finest music and theater productions and outstanding collections of art. With a diverse selection of theaters and concert halls, such as the Kravis Center, the Royal Poinciana Playhouse, the Eissey Campus Theatre and the Maltz Jupiter Theatre, we enjoy a steady stream of popular music, symphony, ballet, opera and theatrical performances.
The Palm Beach Pops, the Ballet Florida, the Palm Beach Opera, the Broadway America in Palm Beach and the Florida Philharmonic all call the Kravis Center home. Each year we also enjoy a multitude of festivals and events devoted to local artists, such as Arti Gras, Artfest by the Sea and Sunfest. Those of us who love history treasure the nearby DuBois Pioneer Home, the Loxahatchee River Historical Museum and the Pahokee Museum.
From European masters to contemporary art, the vibrant fine arts scene in the Palm Beaches area offers something for every taste. In addition to private galleries and studios, we enjoy visiting the Flagler Museum, the Hibel Museum of Art, the Lighthouse Centre for the Arts and the Norton Museum. All feature regular exhibition schedules and fascinating works from their permanent collections on display.
The Palm Beach Jewelry and Antique Show, the largest art, jewelry and antique show in the country, takes place each spring at the Palm Beach County Convention Center. The convention center also plays host to America's International Fine Art & Antique Fair each February.
Recreation
From deep sea fishing to hiking in nearby nature preserves, we enjoy endless ways to experience our majestic, sun-soaked surroundings. Our children and grandchildren appreciate the South Florida Science Museum, the Lion Country Safari, the Palm Beach Zoo and the go-carts and laser tag at Fun Depot. Those of us craving adventure often opt for helicopter tours with scenic vistas or scuba diving excursions around local ship wrecks.
Day and overnight cruises abound, and gaming enthusiasts enjoy the action at the Brighton Seminole Casino and the races at the Palm Beach Kennel Club. Whether we want to hike, kayak or travel by airboat, we can easily find an organized tour. The American Orchid Society Visitors Center & Botanical Garden and the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens are favorite destinations for many of us.
Sports
When we're looking for sports action, the choices are everywhere. Baseball fans flock to spring training and minor league baseball right up the road at the Roger Dean Stadium, where the St. Louis Cardinals and the Florida Marlins train and the Jupiter Hammerheads and Palm Beach Cardinals play during the regular season. Of course, those of us who golf enjoy the annual Honda Classic and the LPGA's Championship.
Our community is the nation's winter polo capital, with four major venues. We're also home to the leading, equestrian sporting event in the world, the Winter Equestrian Festival. Each spring the Delray Beach Tennis Center hosts the International Tennis Championships. And the recently organized Marathon of the Palm Beaches is already attracting the world's top runners.
Dining
With our own outstanding selection of Frenchman's Creek restaurants, we never need to leave our club to enjoy an excellent meal. But when we want a change of scenery, the options are endless. See-and-be-seen restaurants with high-profile chefs dot Worth Avenue in Palm Beach. And we find everything from hip restaurants to cozy pubs filling the shopping districts of West Palm Beach.
Within blocks of our club, we dine at nationally known restaurants and favorite local spots for pizza, seafood, sushi, Thai and steaks. Two nearby farmers' markets give us easy access to fresh, local foods, as do numerous supermarkets and a brand new Whole Foods. From blackened mahi mahi and seafood risotto to New York strip steak and wild mushroom ravioli, we savor it all in the Palm Beaches community.
Medical Facilities
The Palm Beaches area is home to some of the best known medical facilities in Florida. Five hospitals are located close to our club, and numerous family doctors and specialist physicians practice in our community. Holistic wellness centers, spas, retreats and practitioners can be found throughout the area. The Good Samaritan Medical Center, the JFK Medical Center, the Jupiter Medical Center, the Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center and St. Mary's Hospital are all nearby.
